Levin 1908 Concert, GG 39

Is working on the batch of 8 GammelGura and this was given priority as it will be delivered on Sunday.

A very unusual Levin from 1908. Unusual as it is larger than the usual parlor size, the oldest I have seen. The medium-sized Concert is the second largest, there is a harp format as well. It's grandpa's guitar that hung unplayable on the wall, now grandpa will get it as a present 🙂

No major problems with it except that it was renovated by a cousin who didn't really know how to do it. Had to work a little extra with repairs at the neck attachment that was damaged. The stable was also planed down, I spliced a piece on top in the middle to get the height back. The tuning screws were improbably loose (about a turn "clearance") and were replaced with new ones. Otherwise the usual with a carbon fiber rod in the neck, new ribs and a K&K mic. The fingerboard in extra fine Brazilian rosewood got some play pits filled with sanding dust and superglue, one dot was missing and replaced with a new one.

Sounds very good. Thinned out the thick bottom to normal 3 mm instead of 3,8 with my roller plaster and put a middle stick in rosewood when the bottom shrunk.

A picture from a small video clip (unfortunately without sound ..) where grandpa rehearses the guitar at the handover. It intones as it should!  :)

Other objects in the batch are about halfway, repairing cracks in the body and gluing ribs in the lid. The bottoms and necks of all are almost ready.
