The stables on old guitars almost always need to be replaced. Cheap parlor guitars did not have stable legs but a longer band that could act as stable legs. There is nothing wrong with the sound of a “stable leg” in the form of a band, but they are very impractical as they cannot be adjusted unless the stable is planed down or shimmed up…
