Reports another finished GammelGura, a European pearl from around 1910. This was overpainted with modern varnish and the spirit varnish underneath was crumbly and dried out. Had to repaint the entire instrument. Short mensur of 61 cm, thick lid with small dimensions and low stable leg made it possible for me to string it up with standard 0.11 strings.
An interesting detail about it is that the straps tilt slightly, 2-3 mm higher up on the base. it allows the stable leg to be straighter and still intonate. good with narrow pyramid figures (used the same trick on the unknown Swede in another post).
..also a picture of me when I tinker a bit on it in the room 🙂
