Two fine guitars passed the workshop this week. A Sundberg that has been exposed to drought and a nice old Hagström electric guitar.
The frets on the Sundberg guitar stuck out and had a small "Korean hump" at the bottom of the fingerboard. The paint had developed a crack in the center joint below the stable as well, but it was only a hairline crack in the paint itself. As the bands were relatively high, it was good to crown the top of the bands below the 14th band, the band ends that protruded were filed down. The strings were old and completely dead, the guitar was brought to life with new Newtone Masterclass 0.11 strings. Great guitar!
ALL screws on the Hagström guitar needed to be tightened! Even all the knobs were loose. Cleaned and lubricated the tuning screws. The neck was very thin but still almost straight. Changed the worn straps and took the opportunity to sand the board completely flat before I strapped on. Clever intonation at the stable with two M2 screws on either side of the contact point, two were missing and replaced with new ones. New Newtone electric guitar strings 0.10 were put on.
Could imagine owning both, nice guitars 🙂
