Old Gura 67 delivered

A little special parlor with nylon strings and a scalloped board was completed. This one had to retain an unusual number of original parts, grip board, tuning screws, oversaddle and end plug. The stable was changed and modern (yes, 1950s), I made a new pyramid figure in the old style. Rectangular to hide the scar. Wide cracks in the lid had knits in spruce inserted. Otherwise as usual with carbon fiber rod and new ribs. The thick and evenly grounded bottom also thinned. Inside it was there1912 ring in pencil, the same year that Titanic dropped 🙂

The bands were changed to new ones in brass, the band notch was filled with rosewood and the placement was corrected a little grand in some places. The upper saddle in rosewood was allowed to remain on request, with nylon strings you do not have the same requirement that the upper saddle and stable legs must be hard and respond to the string. It works with soft wood against soft strings. A fretboard marker rattled off without me noticing when it came loose, it now has a new home in my vacuum cleaner… the oval shape of the replica was awkward!

The sides had huge cracks that I glued together with the support of veneers with the vein across the crack on the inside.

On request, I put two leg rings around the hole that was in the head - "old style". The head was strangely small and a corner of the plate of the original tuning screws hung in the air! Bent to the corner so you do not have to cut yourself on it.

Has a bit of a hard time judging the sound of a nylon string guitar, but I think it was fun to play - always a good measure!
