Old Gura 46

The first one to be completed in the ongoing batch. A circa 1935 Söderman that is now on its way to Ostervala. Hurry up (or try out)!

Converted to a four-way double string instrument tuned GDGD. Originally a guitar with doubled G and e string with 59,5 cm mens watch. The new tuning screws are cut 12-string tuning screws. This atmosphere really uses the instrument to the maximum, all strings end up in the area where the lute sounds the best. The result is a very large tone and sound with a sustain that almost never ends on open strings. Too bad I can't play more than one song on it :P

Had problems with neck throbbing against sound hole. Heated the neck back and glued the carbon fiber rod, but had to make the grip board a little thinner at the head to get the geometry I wanted. There is no neck attachment to correct with. But it was good in the end!

Saw out a rectangular hole in the original figure around the old holes and folded in a rosewood patch. In it were drilled 4 holes for the string pins, two strands in each. It got to be bone sticks that I think match the white celluloid strips in the head and around the lid.

The lid was very cracked, I think I glued 8 cracks and folded some new wood into one of them to reduce the tension. But the worst thing was probably that the entire guitar had been sprayed over with plastic varnish and that cracks had been clumsily repaired and repaired by the same person. He had also put black stain in his scratches… Well. Got loose the varnish with a heat gun and a sharp knife without sabbing the paint. The lid, on the other hand, was almost completely repainted. Spirit varnish, of course.

Mounted a simple leather strap on it, otherwise it slips like a lap in the knee!
